DO YOU FEEL AT HOME?
Do You Feel at Home? (originally in Spanish as ‘Te sentís en casa?’) is a mixed media animation exploring the relationship between our fading memory and the places we once called home. Photographs of my own flat in London, marked by items I’ve brought from all over the world as a constant immigrant, were printed and collaged before being scanned back into the digital world to create a 3D environment.
The animation aimed to explore an often neglected side of nostalgia: the entitlement and anger one feels when a space you leave behind can no longer be accessed and starts to slowly disappear from your memory.
Scanning physical collage pieces to bring them back into the 3D environment. This back and forth between mediums always creates a unique feel.Working with personal items created some great insights into understanding how they can build up meaning in a space.
